Overview & History
Cladtech Associates Ltd (CTA) is a specialist independent curtain walling and cladding consultancy firm providing construction industry professionals, developers and contractors with technical advice on all matters concerning curtain walling, lightweight cladding, windows and glazing on commercial and large scale residential schemes. CTA has no affiliation with any trade organisation, company, firm or supplier to the industry. We are members of the CWCT.
The practice was originally formed in 1975 between Norman Plough, who was an established window consultant and Russ Buczkowski based in Chicago. In 1985 Cladtech Associates was established by Stephen Green and Peter Plough and they expanded its UK and international activities considerably. Simon Armstrong joined as an associate in 1988 and became a partner in 2000. Shaun Kelly joined Cladtech in 2003 and became a partner in 2011. In December 2017 Cladtech Associates became a Limited company with Peter Plough, Simon Armstrong and Shaun Kelly as Directors. Lawrence Gray became a director in April 2019.
In 2022 Simon Armstrong and Peter Plough stepped down as directors and Shaun Kelly and Lawrence Gray became the two principal directors.Shaun Kelly holds a master’s degree in facade engineering and has worked in the industry throughout his adult life.
Lawrence Gray has a degree in architectural technology and a master’s degree in façade engineering.
Simon Armstrong was a committee member of the CWCT assisting in the preparation of the Standard for systemised building envelopes and assisted the NHBC with the development of their Standard Section 6.9 Curtain wall and cladding.
Originally our work was entirely on office developments but for the past 20 years we have also worked on many high rise residential projects as well, including St George Wharf Tower, Albion Riverside and One Blackfriars. We have worked on numerous hotel buildings including the Hilton in Park Lane and The Royal Garden Hotel. In over 35 years, Cladtech have worked on over 5,500 projects.

The Cladtech team includes Tony Selkirk, David Scott, Jon Hird, Peter Hirst and Rosemary Young all of whom have an extensive knowledge of cladding design, testing and installation and have all worked in the industry for more than 20 years.
